New Owner Guide
Living on the river is just a bit different than living on a land-locked home. Please use this guide as a great way to get started with information that will help you fit right in!
Utilities
At Channel Island, utilities are a mix of those that are shared by all members (and are a part of your HOA dues) and private utilities that are set up independently by yourself.
We've included links and contact information for service providers.
Shared Utilities
\ Water
Water services are provided by the Burlington Water District.
Susie Hasty is on the board of the BWD. Send any questions her way.
\ Garbage & Recycling
Portland Disposal & Recycling, Inc. is our provider. Their number is 503-281-8736..
-
Garbage and recycling are located at each gazebo. Trash pickup is on Tuesday and recycling pickup is Friday.
-
All trash and recycling must fit within the containers provided.
-
Recycling must be broken down in an effort to take up as little space as possible.
-
Excess trash (i.e. mattresses etc.) can be picked up by prior arrangement with the homeowner and Portland Disposal. The homeowner is responsible for the extra charge.
-
Metro Central Recycling is just 8 miles down Hwy 30 where hazardous waste can be recycled for free (CFL tube lightbulbs, paint, pesticides, motor oil) as well as small appliances (wine fridge, ac units) or items too large to fit in our garbage dumpsters can be dropped off for a small charge.
